DC Bookman presents "My Books", an online book club for women, men, and children on Myvoicedc.com. Each month, a suggested book will be posted in each group with a featured list of book events occurring within the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. "My Books" will feature author spotlights, book reviews, and online book discussions/chats.
Myvoicedc.com is a new website owned by Washington, D.C. Fox affiliate television station, WTTG Fox5. It was launched on October 1, 2007.
Myvoicedc.com's target audience are African-Americans in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. The site highlights issues that are significant to the African-American community including health, entertainment, business, etc.
Myvoicedc.com's goal is to "fill the void" of news coverage about African-Americans that has been created my the mainstream media.
Unfortunately, the African-American community has been plagued with a nasty stereotype - that they have little interest in reading. The partnership between DC Bookman and Myvoicedc.com dispels that untruth.
This relationship illustrates that African-Americans love to read and enrich their minds with a variety of knowledge. DC Bookman and Myvoice.com have joined forces to "fight the lies and negative propaganda" about African-Americans and reading.
